We’re delighted to introduce Sarah Boardman, one of our Environmental Consultants here at Our Rivers. Sarah joined the team in the summer of 2025, after graduating the previous year with a first-class honours degree in Geography from the University of Liverpool. She brings enthusiasm, organisation, and a genuine passion for making a positive impact on the environment.

A day in the life at Our Rivers

Sarah is primarily responsible for supporting our Cumbria-based clients, while always being ready to help with Norfolk and other projects too. Her day-to-day role includes liaising closely with clients, coordinating the signing of documents, and writing reports. More recently, Sarah has taken on responsibilities within marketing, helping support how we communicate our work and values to a wider audience.

One of Sarah’s favourite parts of the job is knowing that her work contributes to making a real difference to the environment. This is something that strongly aligns with her personal values and academic background.

Life Outside the Office

Outside of work, Sarah leads a very active lifestyle and enjoys pretty much any form of exercise. From gym sessions and spin classes to pilates, running, and badminton. She’s pretty much always on the move!

When it’s time to slow down, Sarah loves reading (with The Women by Kristin Hannah being a standout favourite) and spending quality time with her golden retriever, who is never far from her side.

Sarah is full of interesting talents and experiences…

• She has an extraordinary memory and knows most of the capital cities around the world (this has been very useful for the weekly pub quiz!)

• She’s travelled extensively, with highlights including Canada, New Zealand and Cambodia

• She’s skydived over the Great Barrier Reef and rafted the highest commercially rafted waterfall in the world

• If she could have any superpower, it would be teleportation – perfect for avoiding travel sickness and saving time!
